Dall Sheep Research - The Alaska Department of Fish and Game just completed stage 2 of the Brooks Range Dall’s Sheep Research project. In June of 2023, 50 GPS collars were deployed on young rams in both Gates of The Arctic National Park and in portions of Game Management Units 24A and 25A. One thing I learned from spending time up close with Dall sheep this fall was how much their behavior is influenced by the "lead" ram. In the 2 days that we followed these sheep there wasn't a moment where the other Rams didn't stand up when he stood, feed when he fed, or bed down when he bedded down.
