Did you know the Indian or Malabar giant squirrel (Ratufa indica) holds the Guiness Book record for the world's largest squirrel? This beautiful brightly coloured squirrel is endemic to deciduous and moist evergreen forests in peninsular India. It can grow to 1 m in total length, two thirds of which constitute its long bushy tail. Rarely coming down from its home in the upper canopy of the trees, it moves from one tree to another by way of huge leaps of up to 6 m, with its limbs outstretched. 📹
