29 reactions | Great blue turacos are the largest of the turacos and are the only species that is predominantly blue. This color however, is not pigment produced by the body, but instead is reflected light off microscopic structures on the feathers. All birds possessing blue are structurally colored in this way, and are producing this color themselves.
