A PlayStation account will "become optional" for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Sony hasn't lost hope that players will still go ahead and use a PlayStation account, though, as it's tying several benefits to signing in.

Sony, having tried the stick to convince PC gamers to sign up for PlayStation Network accounts to access their games on Steam (with, let us say, mixed results), has now decided that maybe it's time to give the carrot a try.

Sony’s biggest single-player games on PC will no longer require you to link to a PlayStation Network account to play them. In a press release Wednesday, the company said that linking a PlayStation Account will now be optional for select PlayStation titles on PC. The news hits just one day before Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set for release on PC.
