Just when it seemed clear exactly what was coming when for the new iPhones, a new part of the puzzle has become apparent.

Apple launched the Pro six years ago with the iPhone Pro 11 for $999, but the normal course of inflation and the rising cost of everything else that goes with making things -- components, supply chain costs, labor wages -- means the sub-$1,000 iPhone Pro could be a thing of the past.

The latest report claiming that Apple will add $50 to the price of the iPhone 17 Pro because of tariffs, also adds that the base model will start with more storage than before.
