The late Texas Congressman and former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will lie in state at the Texas Capitol next week to commemorate his lifelong commitment to public service. Former Houston Mayor and U.S. Congressman Sylvester Turner has died, according to U.S. representatives and a Houston council member.

The cause of death is unclear. Turner took office weeks ago, filling the seat left vacant by the death of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.
