Daniil Medvedev's exuberant celebration after beating Arthur Fils was not his normal reaction to winning a tennis match.

Daniil Medvedev is through to his third consecutive Indian Wells semi-final. World no. 6 faced the young Frenchman Arthur Fils in the quarter-final and prevailed 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 in two hours and 25 minutes.

Daniil Medvedev has explained his extreme celebration after beating Arthur Fils in the Indian Wells quarter-final. It was a rollercoaster match - the Russian lead by a break in the decider and then trailed by a break before taking it in a nail-biting tiebreak. Afterwards, he leapt into the air four times on his way to shake hands with Fils.

The match between Daniil Medvedev and Arthur Fils in the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells Masters 1000 was one of the best of the entire season so far. The Russian ace has not found his best tennis yet, but he is on his way to returning to the highest level and has started to fight again on every single point as in the past.

At Indian Wells, Medvedev is chasing a very prestigious milestone. If he manages to lift the trophy on Sunday, he will become the first tennis player under the age of 30 to have won all six Masters 1000 on hard courts.

Medvedev was dragged into a decider by Fils, but eventually came through in a thrilling finale. And the Russian was in buoyant mood after booking his spot in the last four.
