The article Winter Storm Barreling Toward Pittsburgh, Western PA appeared first on Pittsburgh Patch. PITTSBURGH, PA — It's time to break out the shovel and ice melt. The initial snowstorm of winter is heading toward Pittsburgh and likely will impact all of Western Pennsylvania.
A total accumulation of between 3-5 inches is expected in the Harrisburg, though the snow will come mainly before noon.
Pittsburgh faces rain today and snow showers on Thanksgiving, with gusty winds and temperature drops expected midweek.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh predicts rain is likely Sunday, with a 50% chance of precipitation. The high temperature is expected to only climb to 45, meaning it could be a cool, wet day on the natural grass of Acrisure Stadium.
"Have your car filled with gas, have extra water, something in case you would, by chance, get caught in it so you don't panic," Tomei said. You also want to up your chances of not getting caught in it, and that includes having effective tires on snowy roads.
