With the pressure mounting and their backs against the wall, Western Michigan football could’ve very easily folded and called it a season. But instead, WMU met pressure with joy. And with it, the Broncos –– more than likely –– are going bowling.

Kalamazoo — Zahir Abdus-Salaam ran for a touchdown and caught another as Western Michigan defeated Eastern Michigan, 26-18, Saturday to become bowl eligible and snap a three-game losing streak. Abdus-Salaam scored on a 22-yard run for a 23-8 lead in the third quarter and he celebrated by jumping into a snowbank bordering the end zone.

The Chippewas snapped a 5-game losing streak and kept the Victory Cannon trophy in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday night.
