The New York Mets won an extra-inning thriller on Wednesday night against the Miami Marlins, 6-5. Pete Alonso hit the game-changing blast, tying the game with a three-run Home Run in the top of the eighth.

The New York Mets are returning to Queens Friday for their home opener weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays following away games against the Houston Astros and the Miami Marlins that left the team with a 3-3 record.

Reed Garrett, closer Edwin Diaz, Max Kranick, José Buttó, Ryne Stanek and Huascar Brazobán had each made at least two appearances over that stretch, and none had allowed a run.

Soto is 5-for-21 (.238 batting average) with a home run this season. He still features excellent command of the plate, walking six times to his three strikeouts — his .407 on-base percentage leads every Met but firstbaseman Pete Alonso (.423).

Citi Field is still Pete Alonso's house, though. Alonso hit an early two-run homer, Soto added an RBI double and the New York Mets beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-0 on Friday behind the pair of power hitters they signed in free agency last offseason.
