A woman accused of shoplifting ran from a store into a street, where a passing driver hit and killed her, California sheriff’s officials reported.

The petroglyphs, called “one of the most awe-inspiring and intriguing things to see” by Eastern Sierra, are located in the Volcanic Tableland near Bishop, California, about 80 miles east of Fresno.

The man did $50,000 in damage to the Burger King, police said. Officers arrested Dare Mezidor of Alamosa on charges of burglary, assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and obstructing police, the agency said. Alamosa is about a 235-mile drive southwest from Denver.

A 14-year-old seriously hurt in a snowmobile crash required a helicopter airlift to a hospital, Oregon rescuers reported. The Lake Oswego teen went off-trail while snowmobiling near Elk Lake and crashed into a tree at 3:53 p.m. Saturday, March 8, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
