(ABC 6 News) — The Minnesota Golden Gophers have released their 2025 football schedule. The Gophers will open their season on August 28 with a matchup against the Buffalo Bulls, and once again, they will close their regular season on November 29 against the Wisconsin Badgers in a battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe.

The Big Ten released the schedule for the Golden Gopher's 2025 season on Wednesday. They will play their first game against Buffalo. That game will also be their home opener and is set for Aug. 28. Their final game of the season will be against Wisconsin on Nov.

The U’s final regular-season road game will be against Northwestern at Wrigley Field in Chicago on Nov. 22. The Wildcats are playing a few games each season at the Chicago Cubs’ baseball stadium while a new Ryan Field is being built on campus in Evanston.

The Big Ten announced Minnesota’s 2025 football schedule today, along with the other 17 schools in the conference. Minnesota will open the season at home on Thursday, on August 28 against Buffalo. The Gophers will then host Northwestern State on September 6 before traveling to California for a road game on September 13.
