Protests over federal immigration raids and President Donald Trump’s move to mobilize the National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles are spreading nationwide. They are expected to continue overnight and into the weekend.

The curfew went into effect in part of downtown Los Angeles amid ongoing protests over the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles said the federal operations were a purposeful provocation by the White House. The city was quiet so far on Wednesday, but more protests were expected later in the day.
