The Blue Devils (7-2, 1-0 ACC) are without the services of one clutch force across their winning streak in junior forward Maliq Brown. Roughly 90 minutes before tipoff against Incarnate Word, the Duke basketball social media team reported that the 6-foot-9, 222-pound newcomer from Syracuse is recovering from a toe injury.

Brown is averaging 3.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals through nine games. The Syracuse transfer has become one of Duke’s top reserves in his first season. He had six points, 11 rebounds and three steals in the Blue Devils’ 76-65 comeback win at Louisville in the ACC opener.

No. 4 Duke defeated Incarnate Word 72-46 Tuesday evening. Despite a tight first half, the Blue Devils broke away in the beginning of the second frame on the backs of Sion James and Khaman Maluach. It was Maluach who led the offensive effort with 17 points on an efficient 6-of-7 shooting line.

DURHAM, N.C. — Khaman Maluach scored a season-high 17 points and No. 4 Duke beat Incarnate Word 72-46 on Tuesday night. Maluach — a 7-foot-2 freshman center from South Sudan — shot 6 of 7 from floor and had seven rebounds as the Blue Devils (8-2) won their fourth straight. Isaiah Evans scored 14 points and Kon Knueppel 10.
