Group D kicked off play at the Club World Cup with Chelsea defeating Los Angeles FC 2-0, showing why they are one of the favorites to win the Club World Cup. The Blues got off to a good start with Liam Delap making his debut and assisting the second goal to Enzo Fernandez.

Benfica and Boca Juniors delivered the best match of the tourney so far with Benfica rallying to salvage a draw in a feisty match in Miami. Chelsea handled LAFC with ease in Atlanta, and Flamengo took care of business against Esperance in Philly.

Reigning US Open Cup holders LAFC meanwhile boast former EPL stars Hugo Lloris and striker Olivier Giroud amongst their lineup. Steve Cherundolo's team had to make it through a playoff against Mexican outfit Club America to reach the Club World Cup and come into today's game on an unbeaten run of 10 games.
