A Learjet 55 light aircraft crashed near Philadelphia, close to a shopping center in the US. The crash sparked fires in several homes, and there are reports of injuries, according to CBS News Philadelphia.

Emergency crews are responding to an explosion in Northeast Philadelphia after a small plane crashed in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue, WPVI reported. Two people were aboard the plane, according to police. There are other injuries reported on the ground, CBS News reported.

The aircraft came down just after 6 p.m. near the Roosevelt Mall, damaging “several” homes and vehicles, as it erupted in a fireball

The US army has made the decision not to release the name of one of the three soldiers killed in the collision. Meanwhile, a medical transport plane has crashed in Philadelphia, killing six people including a child who was receiving treatment for a life-threatening condition.
