U.S. chipmaker Nvidia, newly cleared to export some AI chips to China, said it opposes any “kill switches” or “spyware” in its products, as it tries to avoid addressing pressures from the U.S. mid Trump administration proposals on how to slow China’s AI progress.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Tuesday that two Chinese nationals have been arrested for their alleged involvement in illegally shipping "tens of millions of dollars" worth of high-performance AI chips to China.

Chuan Geng and Shiwei Yang also allegedly shipped Nvidia's H100 GPU to the country despite US export controls meant to block the import of high-end GPUs.
