The previous-generation petrol-powered Porsche Macan (from AUD$133,700 plus on-road costs) is the brand’s top-selling model in Australia. It’s the car that made Porsche ownership more attainable, bridging the gap between aspirational luxury and practical everyday use.

Buyers that have already taken delivery of the new electric Porsche Macan will need to visit the dealership for new headlight software.

Porsche is recalling 2,941 Macan EVs in the U.S. due to an issue with its headlights: they’re too bright. Transport Canada doesn’t currently have a recall listed for the electric Macan, but will update this post if that information becomes available for those north of the border.

Headlights are one of the most crucial safety features on any vehicle, but when they’re too bright, they can pose just as much risk as being too dim. Newly delivered 2024 and 2025 Porsche Macan Electric models in the US now require repairs because their overly bright headlights exceed safety standards, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

Porsche is offering a four-strong range of electric Macans, but the base price is more than $30,000 higher than the outgoing petrol variant's.
