A Mumbai court has issued a contempt notice against Google CEO Sundar Pichai. The notice was issued to Pichai after YouTube failed to follow a court order which directed taking down the a defamatory video titled 'Pakhandi Baba ki Kartut'.

A Mumbai Court has issued a contempt notice to Google CEO Sundar Pichai over YouTube's non-compliance with a March 2023 order to remove a video allegedly defaming Dhyan Foundation and its founder, Yogi Ashwini.

The notice is issued after the company’s failure to comply with a court order that instructed the removal of a defamatory video titled ‘Pakhandi Baba ki Kartut’.

In its defence, YouTube cited immunity under the Information Technology Act, arguing that defamation does not qualify as content that can be blocked under Section 69-A of the Act
