Millions of dozens of eggs have been recalled because they may be contaminated with salmonella. The Food and Drug Administration announced that August Egg Company recalled 1.7 million dozen brown cage-free and brown certified organic eggs, or 20.4 million individual eggs, that were distributed across nine states.
Egg Company recalled about 1.7 million brown organic and brown cage-free egg varieties distributed to grocery stores between February and May.

As for packaging, the recalled retail eggs were sold in fiber or plastic cartons, with the above codes printed on one side of the carton.
