The California State Capitol tree is lit with a ceremony held inside the Capitol Rotunda, hosted by Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

The tree – a 24-foot Douglas Fir from Crystal Spring Tree Farm in Carbon County – was brought into the capitol two weeks ago. Crews from the Pennsylvania Department of General Services decorated the conifer with 1,250 lights and over 700 ornaments made by pre-kindergarten students.

Tree Lighting Ceremony featured choirs, a reading from Luke, and hot cocoa, emphasizing community and holiday spirit.

Christmas has reached the state capitol with the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree in Harrisburg. Governor Josh Shapiro, first lady Lori Shapiro, Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis and other dignitaries attended the ceremony on Tuesday.
