President Donald Trump says he won't apologize for posting a racist video of the Obamas. Trump told reporters that, “I didn't make a mistake,” as he flew to Florida on Friday.
The president shared a video in which the Obamas' faces appear on apes' bodies for about one second.
"I look at a lot of, thousands, of things," Trump said of the video. "And I looked at the beginning of it, it was fine."
The footage is included in a video that promotes false claims that the 2020 presidential election was rigged against Mr. Trump.
Without Trump at the top of the ticket, Republicans are feeling emboldened to push back on policies that might cost them at the ballot box.
The policy change orders the removal of any post made by official State Department accounts on X before President Trump returned to office in 2025.
Omar called Trump the "leader of the Pedophile Protection Party," saying Somalia would "execute pedophiles not elect them."
The White House initially defended the post, which depicted the former president and first lady as apes. Following widespread bipartisan backlash, the post was removed.
