A major winter storm has been forecast to hit four U.S. states, dumping up to 3 feet of snow during the Thanksgiving holiday period. It is set to sweep across the Northern Plains, Upper Midwest, and Great Lakes region, producing high winds and hazardous travel conditions.

The biggest lake-effect snow event of the season thus far is pummeling the Great Lakes Snowbelt, and is expected to deliver feet of snow through Black Friday, creating long periods of life-threatening travel conditions across major Interstate highways this Thanksgiving holiday.
Several more inches of snow are expected in the U.P. and Northern Michigan today, while a couple more inches are forecast to fall in West Michigan and across Mid-Michigan. Southeast Michigan could see less than an inch of new snow today, but the Thumb area could see up to 4 inches.
As of Wednesday morning, some counties by Lake Superior had reported up to 14 inches of snow overnight with more on the way.
