A rapidly strengthening storm is expected to develop off the Southeast coast this weekend amid a deadly cold outbreak, bringing snow and strong winds just days after a historic winter storm blasted large parts of the East Coast.

Every county in the state of North Carolina is under a winter storm warning this weekend, but the coast could also see hurricane-force winds at some point.

The forecasts had predicted that the storm could be among the worst in a generation to hit the region. By Monday, it was clear that is exactly what happened.
