After the Blackhawks outshot the Wild 20-5 in the first period, Jason Dickinson put Chicago ahead 1-0 at 5:41 of the second, scoring from the slot when the puck came off the stick of Minnesota forward Yakov Trenin along the left-wing boards.

The Nashville Predators have recalled forward Reid Schaefer from Milwaukee. The former 1st round pick could debut vs. Chicago on Nov. 28.

The former Regina Pat has 31 points so far this season, placing him fourth in the league behind Nathan MacKinnon, Macklin Celebrini and Connor McDavid. While the Hawks do not necessarily live or die with Bedard, the playmaker’s ability to be a game-changer has been noticeable this year.

The Chicago Blackhawks had their hands full with the Colorado Avalanche coming to town. They slowed the Avs’ offense, but weren’t able to score themselves.

The Avs had a power play in the first period, but did not register a shot attempt. Just as Blackwood was in Nashville, Wedgewood was the star of the opening period. He made three or four excellent saves among the 11 to get the Avs to the first intermission unscathed.

Ultimately, the Blackhawks provided a mixed answer. In their 1-0 loss to the Avalanche at the United Center, the Blackhawks did get back to their game and were much better than against the Sabres. The Blackhawks even arguably outplayed the Avalanche in stretches.

The Chicago Blackhawks found themselves on the wrong side of officiating controversy once again, this time in a 4–3 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday night at the United Center.

The Blackhawks continue their four-game homestand on Friday evening against the Minnesota Wild. Friday’s game will be the first of four meetings between the two clubs this season. Chicago is 12-10-3 in their last 25 games against the Predators at the United Center.
