After heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu due to the Northeast Monsoon, a private weather agency has predicted the possibility of a low-pressure area forming between December 10th and 15th This year's early Northeast Monsoon brought heavy rainfall to districts like Chennai,

Cyclone Fengal has crossed the North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts on Saturday night and is likely to continue inching towards west-southwestward weakening into a deep depression within the next few hours,

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at several places, while extremely heavy rainfall is expected to lash isolated places in parts of northern Tamil Nadu and Puducherry under the influence of Cyclone Fengal.

The northeast monsoon has increased water levels in Chennai's reservoirs. Water storage, which was at 46.99% after Cyclone Phethai, has now risen to 60.15%. The Poondi reservoir has reached 1 TMC after 7 months.

CM MK Stalin reported Cyclone Fengal has severely impacted 14 districts, affecting 1.5 crore people and damaging infrastructure. He requested ₹2,000 crore from the Centre for relief efforts and restoration.
