Crews broke ground Tuesday on a long-awaited $1.2 billion terminal at San Antonio International Airport. San Antonio International Airport (SAT) celebrated the groundbreaking of its newest $1.2 billion terminal on Tuesday. The new terminal is being built to the northwest of Terminal B and will host up to 17 gates and add more than 850,000 square feet to the airport’s footprint.

With 17 gates, Terminal C will be larger than the two existing terminals combined. It's the cornerstone of a 20-year expansion of the airport.

Construction on San Antonio’s new terminal is slated to begin on December 10, 2024, and is estimated to cost the city 1.4 billion dollars. The brand-new Terminal C will essentially double the size of San Antonio Airport, unlocking further growth potential and allowing better connections to other parts of the country and the world.

Construction comes as the City of San Antonio and Southwest Airlines continue fighting in court over gate assignments.
