The city identified a site in central Oahu on agricultural land along Kamehameha Highway in what is currently a pineapple field.

Moreover, city officials say they may have to use eminent domain in order to secure private properties for the next dump — a parcel they say must be about 200 acres in size and viable as a landfill for at least 20 years.

The City and County of Honolulu announced that the proposed location of Oahu's next landfill will be in an area northwest of Wahiawa.
