Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lunar lander has beamed home stunning views of the moon from an altitude of just 62 miles (100 kilometers).

Blue Ghost is aiming to become the second private lander to successfully soft-land on the moon, just over a year after Intuitive Machines' Odysseus lander. If all goes well, the solar-powered spacecraft will operate on the surface of the moon for one lunar day, or about 14 Earth days, with lunar sunset expected to bring an end to the mission.

Blue Ghost would become the second private spacecraft to successfully soft-land on the moon. Intuitive Machines was the first private company to put a robot on the moon in 2024.

As it maneuvers into position for a landing attempt, Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander captured some gorgeous video of the Moon rolling away below it.
