American Primeval airs on Netflix on January 9 and the series explores the fight to gain control of the American West and the violent clash between religion and culture. Taylor Kitsch is a 43-year-old Canadian actor and model who leads the series.

Not just any star, Kitsch is also celebrated for his portrayal of Tim Riggins in NBC's Friday Night Lights, where he shared the screen with Minka Kelly. The drama off-screen is just as palpable, with Kelly revealing in her tell-all book Tell Me Everything their connection was far from perfect.

Taylor Kitsch told UPI he wanted to play Isaac in "American Primeval" because the character is a broken man who rediscovers his humanity and finds a new sense of purpose.

I've never really been on a horse, so that was a big adjustment for me to learn how to ride – at least well enough for a camera to trick you guyss" said Taylor Kitsch.
