Construction work inadvertently started a fire inside the Meeker County Jail on Wednesday. According to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, the fire started around 1:19 p.m.

Update 5 p.m.: Rapid growth on the South Rim fire in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park forced immediate evacuations in Montrose County on Saturday afternoon.
