Today's show of strength comes a day after over 160 protesting farmers were arrested. The farmers were holding a sit-in at the Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida after their planned march to Delhi on land compensation and other demands was stopped on Monday.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait was detained by the Aligarh Police on Wednesday (December 4, 2024) while on his way to Greater Noida to participate in a meeting of farmer leaders, a police official said.

Meanwhile, a ban has been imposed on all types of goods vehicles traveling from Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, as well as from Sirsa to Surajpur via Parichowk.
