Walmart Broth Recall Update as FDA Sets Risk Level

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ), 2,023 cases of Great Value, Chicken Broth, sold in 48-ounce containers at Walmart, have been recalled. Each case includes six units of the product, meaning 12,138 cartons of broth were recalled.

Altogether, 2,023 cases have been recalled, according to the announcement. The recalled products were sold in 242 stores in nine states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas, Walmart said Monday morning.

Recall alert: Walmart chicken broth recall now Class II
Chicken broth sold by Walmart in several states, including Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas has been classified as a Class II recall. The broth was produced by Tree House Foods Inc., which is based in Canada, and was initially recalled on Dec. 11, 2024, according to the Food and Drug Administration notice.

An FDA Enforcement Report said TreeHouse Foods, which made the broth for Walmart, issued a recall on Dec. 11 and phoned consignees in Alabama and Arkansas. Asked by the Miami Herald Tuesday why there was no news release and who the consignees were, TreeHouse media relations didn’t answer and emailed:
