On a trip to Argentina to play in a farewell match for Juan Martín del Potro, Novak Djokovic explained why he hired former rival Andy Murray after being without a coach for six months.

Djokovic announced this past week that Murray would join his team as a coach at least through the 2025 Australian Open.

With these words released in an interview for Sky Sport, Novak Djokovic talked for the first time about his new coach, the Scottish champion with whom he has shared for years both the court as an opponent and the locker room and ATP events as a friend.

"It’s time for one of my toughest opponents to step into my corner. Welcome on board, Coach — Andy Murray,” Djokovic said
